A Marblehead police officer for 32 years, Joe
Cuffe, or his formal name, P. Joseph Cuffe. was born in Marblehead,
and graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1938,
and he attended Wentworth Institute. He was a Navy Veteran of
World War II, serving as an electrician's mate on the USS Caroll,
on convoy duty in North Africa. He was a past Grand Knight of
the Marblehead Council of Knights of Columbus, a member of the
Marblehead Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marblehead Police Assocation.
He died at the age of 79 on December 14, 1999. Joe was one of the most beloved police officers ever to walk the streets of Marblehead. |
